Xpress Pioneers Road Safety with First-Ever ERT Program Launch

May 6, 2024

Manila, Philippines - Xpress, the Philippines' newest ride-hailing service provider, has unveiled its ground breaking Emergency Response Team (ERT) Program, marking a historic milestone in commuter safety across the nation.

In a significant move aligning with its core mission, Xpress has empowered its driver partners to serve as educated and readily   available emergency responders during critical moments on the road, such as accidents. The ERT Program stands as the first of its kind in the Philippines, symbolizing Xpress's unwavering commitment to the well-being of Filipino commuters.

The ERT Program represents a significant milestone in Xpress's commitment to the safety of its passengers and the broader community. This in-house initiative involves rigorous training in First Responder techniques, equipping participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to assist individuals involved in accidents or disasters on the road.

The culmination of the latest training cycle, held on April 25th, marked the graduation of the third batch of Xpress riders under the First Responder Training Program. Led by representatives from the Bureau of Fire Protection, the training covered essential first-aid techniques, accident response protocols, and disease prevention measures. Through the ERT Program, Xpress aims to equip all its riders and drivers to serve as proficient first-aid providers and adept assistance responders during both accidents and natural calamities.

The impact of Xpress riders as proactive responders in times of crisis was already felt. Just recently, on April 23, a courageous Xpress rider – Kuya CJ – exemplified the program's ethos by rendering crucial first-aid assistance to two motorcyclists involved in a collision. In the video and photos sent, he can be seen tending to the cuts and bruises of the two accident victims.

Similarly, on May 1, during Labor Day, another Xpress rider came to the aid of a young cyclist following a road accident, he can be seen in the video providing first-aid care and even offering a ride home to the lad. This truly underscores the program's invaluable contribution to community safety.

To further enhance accessibility to emergency assistance, Xpress has established a 24/7 contact center in partnership with Cebuana Lhuillier, covering the entirety of the Philippines. This partnership ensures a swift 30-minute response time anywhere in the country! It works by facilitating the dispatch of trained security personnel or capable assistance providers to the location of the distress signal.  Moreover, any Xpress rider or passenger in need of emergency attention can visit any of Cebuana Lhuillier's 3,800 branches nationwide for immediate assistance.

"We're not stopping at first-aid care on the road; we will also be launching our very  own Xpress Ambulance to ensure that major accident victims get the serious medical care they need," Roberto Belda proudly shares, Head of Transportation of Xpress.

With this innovative feature and program, Xpress reaffirms its commitment to transcending conventional transportation services, aspiring to catalyze meaningful transformations in individual lives, communities, and ultimately, the nation, through the power of technology.

As members of the commuting public, the launch of the ERT Program relieves road anxiety, knowing that Xpress prioritizes safety above all else and stands prepared to go the extra mile to ensure the readiness of its riders as capable emergency responders.

The implementation of this pioneering initiative represents not just a commendable step forward but also a vital necessity in fostering a culture of safety and preparedness among road users. Xpress remains steadfast in its dedication to promoting road safety and looks forward to continuing its transformative journey in service of the Filipino community.
